Financial Innovation Awards 2008

The 11th annual Financial Innovation Awards took place on Wednesday 19 November 2008 at the New Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.

The evening was a splendid celebration of innovation, change, and excellence in the financial services industry. More than 560 finalists gathered together to commemorate their achievements in style.

Lucy Alexander, award winning broadcaster and daytime television presenter, hosted this year's awards ceremony guiding us through the event. Multi-talented actor/comedian Hugh Dennis was highly entertaining with his after-dinner speech.

There were 22 categories this year and we received a record number of nominations. All entries received were of a very high standard ensuring that the judges' decisions were extremely difficult.

In the current context of the economic downturn the ifs School of Finance was pleased to be able to look to the future and recognise achievements.

As Martin Day, Dean of Higher Education at the ifs said on the night,

The nominees and winners of tonight's awards have shown how, even in difficult times, the financial services industry is at the forefront of innovation in a wide variety of areas; customer services, technology, social responsibility, marketing, operations and many others.

Innovative products, services and infrastructures that reflect the changing economic environment and provide solutions to emerging challenges will play an important role in the rebuilding of the industry.

Our congratulations go out to all the award winners and we look forward to the 2009 event. Please view the souvenir brochure here to find out more about the industry's achievements.
